The Road to Recovery — Never Give Up!

We're not going to try and kid you. It's not easy to quit. But it's so much harder to keep using.

  • Find a good alcohol and drug counselor you can really talk to.
  • Surround yourself with supportive friends and family. You need to stay away from all those "friends" you had while you were addicted because misery loves company and they will try to bring you down again.
  • Find out about local support groups where you will meet other people involved in recovery. They will understand what you are going through.
  • Life may feel flat at first, but eventually you'll feel yourself coming back and able to enjoy life again. It will happen. It just takes time and the support of people who understand. Get involved in things you used to enjoy before your addiction, or find new things that interest you.
  • When negative thoughts enter your head, say positive, hopeful things to yourself. It may feel phony at first but eventually you'll believe the good things you tell yourself.
