Am I Addicted?

When it comes to booze and drugs, sometimes it's tough to ask yourself the hard questions. But asking, “Could I have a problem?” is the first step to getting the help you need. Take a look at the questions below. Ask yourself the hard questions.

Saying yes to even one of these questions could be a sign of addiction.

I drink or use drugs, even when I don't want to, because I can't seem to stop myself.
I think a lot about booze or drugs.
Booze or drugs make me more sociable and helps me fit in.
My life revolves around getting more booze or drugs.
I need more booze or drugs just to feel ok or get high.
My friends, family and others tell me they're worried about me.
I've begun to fight with friends and family or isolate myself from them.
I'm spending more and more of my money getting high.
I've stopped doing a lot of things I used to enjoy.
I've stopped looking after myself like I used to.
I feel edgy and depressed when I'm not drunk or high.
It's hard for me to imagine life without booze or drugs.
I've tried to stop drinking or using for a week or even a few days, but I always break my promise.
I wish people would mind their own business about my drinking and drugging.
I have switched from one kind of drink or drug to another thinking that this would help me get “in control” of my life.
I sometimes drink or do drugs in the morning.
My drinking/drug use has caused trouble with my friends or at home.
I try to get “extra” drinks or drugs at a party because I do not get enough.
I've missed work or school because of alcohol or drugs
I have had “blackouts”, where I cannot remember what happened when I was drunk or stoned.
My life would be better if I did not use alcohol or drugs.
